One way that these two sciences are linked, is through the field of planetary geology, the study of the makeup and mapping of celestial objects.

When I was born, my grandmother gifted me an unusual gift for a newborn – a telescope. For years, it sat unused in its original box until, my father, finally decided to unbox this precious gift. He took my hand on a moonless night, and we walked deep into our backyard, where he focused the telescope on the night sky, twinkling with thousands of burning lights. I was fascinated and intrigued by space. My interest in space and earth expanded more when I went fossil hunting at my local creek and I found a shark tooth.
I started to attend the monthly meetings held by the local astronomy club, where experts in various fields related to astronomy presented and explained their research. These guest speakers are fascinating because they each have extremely varied backgrounds and specializations, from helping to land men on the moon to presenting the newest understanding of black holes and space components. It truly gave me a sense of how wide and varied the field of astronomy really is. These meetings have helped me gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the field of Astronomy and helped me to more deeply appreciate the world around me, through realizing the beauty and expansiveness of the universe. Astronomy has helped me to slow down and carefully observe not only the sky, but what is around me. Astronomy was a springboard to another passionate interest in my life – geology. Geology and Astronomy are more closely linked than some people may realize. One way that these two sciences are linked, is through the field of planetary geology, the study of the makeup and mapping of celestial objects.
For me, the love of Earth Sciences has changed the way I view the world and my role in the complexity of the cosmos. Through my passion, I recognize that I am a grain of sand in the vastness of the cosmos; however, I am intricately connected to all things in the expanding universe through my elemental composition. I am separate, yet I am a part of all things.

Client name: acme

Client Name: ACME
Industry: Appliances
Product Line: Smart televisions
Consumers: United States, United Kingdom, and Germany smart TV buyers
Competitors: 1. Samsung
2. LG
3. Vizio
“Thank you for meeting with us today,” Tarek says. “Market intelligence has shown that our major competitors—Samsung, LG, and Vizio—are all developing new smart televisions. These new televisions have attractive designs, are efficient, durable, and are available in different sizes. In addition, these televisions are competitively priced, and sell between $800-$1,400 dollars each.”
Tarek looks to you: “As ACME is debating whether to enter this market, we need you to participate in a new cross-functional product development team that will research the smart TV customers buying habits in our three main markets: The United States, Germany, and the U.K. We also need to know if there’s an unmet demand for these TVs in those markets,” he says. Erik Knops, ACME’s CEO, nods his head in agreement.
Tarek continues, “We need to take into consideration the different needs and preferences of smart TV buyers in those markets; as well as the demographics of those buyers such age and gender. The customer requirements for each of those markets may be quite different.”
Finally, Tarek remarks, “In addition, we need to know where those customers buy their smart TVs from, and if there is any seasonal variation in sales.”
Erik nods his head again, smiles, and adds, “Tarek and I want you to research the smart TV buyers’ needs and preferences for those three markets, and provide us with a customer buying behavior report in two weeks. Remember, the report should focus on the customers, and not on the competitors!”
You know that to give Erik and Tarek the most in-depth report, you will need to conduct an analysis of the smart TVs buyers in those markets. Each market has to be discussed and analyzed separately under its own headings and subheadings (three different discussions and analyses). In addition, you have to create a value proposition for ACME’s proposed product. The value proposition should be clear and specific to ACME’s proposed new product. What value do customers see in the proposed product and what would compel them to buy it?

Finally, submit a paragraph or two about why you think it was possible to settle the case before the cause was known and whether you think that is a good idea.

July 2021 the Champlain Towers South condominium collapsed in Miami killing 98 people. A year later, the investigating agency says it still does not know why. But there are many theories–design flaws, construction defects and lack of maintenance. (You do not need to get into specifics about which theory is more likely–simply that there are theories involving the Owner, Design Team and Construction Team).
But in less than a year the litigation was settled for $1B. This averted years of litigation and got compensation to the victims much quicker than anyone would have thought possible. it was an amazing accomplishment.
During the settlement negotiations the mediator need to express to each side–the Owner, the Design Team and the Contractor–the risks they faced if they didn’t settle.
You get to be the mediator. Write a 1-page summary of what you would say to the Owner, a 1-page of what you would say to the Design Team, and a 1-page summary of what you would say to the Contractor and Subcontractors about why they should settle the case early and before the exact cause of the collapse was known. Each should discuss their legal duties in the event that they were responsible for the collapse. Finally, submit a paragraph or two about why you think it was possible to settle the case before the cause was known and whether you think that is a good idea.
