Give two examples of drugs and/or foods that you take/eat regularly or have taken/eaten in the past. How have these drugs affected your psychology (attention, memory, mood, movement, balance, etc.)? From a neurological perspective, what brain regions or neurotransmitters might be affected by these drugs and foods?
This essay prompt may require some outside research. If you use information from sources (including your textbook), make sure to cite them correctly using APA citations. Use the following guide for reference: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html
How long? Minimum 500 words (and I prefer fewer than 1000). Be concise but make sure you include enough detail to back up whatever you are saying.
What format? I don’t care about formatting styles (APA, MLA, etc.) unless you are using citations. Even if you are, I just need proper in-text citations and a References page. Don’t worry about formatting a title page or any of the other picky sort of stuff. I don’t care about things like font, spacing, margins, etc. Make sure your papers are in essay format. What that means to me is you have a good introduction; clear, effective transitions; relevant detail in the body; and a good conclusion

Do I need to include citations? If you are including any information from any outside sources (including the textbook), yes. Otherwise, no. I don’t require you to do any outside research.
Citations: APA format for citations and References page if you do need to include citations
Does spelling/grammar count? Yes
TIPS:
Make sure you answer ALL of the questions in the essay prompt.
I prefer that you don’t use phrasing such as “In this essay, I will…”
Don’t copy/paste anything from anywhere!

Remember: Essays are scored on a 5-point scale. The following is a guide for your reference:
5: Excellent/Outstanding; Perfect work; No errors; Went above and beyond and displayed exceptional effort
4: Good/Satisfactory; Good work; Some errors and/or could use improvement; Completed the work well
3: Average; Completed the work; May include significant errors or could use significant improvement
2: Insufficient; Did the bare minimum to earn credit 0-1: Failure; Did not participate or contribute at all or response was completely unrelated to the topic
Occasionally, half or quarter points are awarded.
